Levanto and the Cinque Terre
Levanto is situated about half-way between Genoa and La Spezia on the Italian Riviera. It is the largest town inside the Cinque Terre Nature Conservation Area. The Cinque Terre is an extraordinary and uniquely beautiful landscape of sea cliffs, woods, lemon and olive groves and vinyards, where five fishing villages are perched in idyllic coves along the path between Levanto and La Spezia.
Further south from La Spezia lies Pisa, and inland approximately one and a half hours from La Spezia is Florence.
Levanto and the Apartment
Levanto is a small market town dating back to the 11th and 12th century, when it lived on its trade with Genoa. Today Levanto is an enchanting and lively resort with a wonderful sandy beach ideal for children and facilities for any sport practised on the sea. The hillsides around offer ideal walking paths throughout all the seasons of the year. A regular train service connects Levanto with Genoa and the villages of the Cinque Terre as well as La Spezia, Livorno, Pisa and Florence. The train station lies 7 minutes walk from the old centre of the town. A 10 minute walk takes you to the apartment, which is situated just off the ancient town square, Piazza Cavour.
The apartment is on the second floor of a 60's building with shops on the ground floor. It is generously laid out and comprises two bedrooms, a lounge, a kitchen and bathroom. Doors from both the kitchen and the lounge lead out on to the balcony with a view of the sea and the hills.
